Chargers Rally Late in Game 2, but Drop 2 on Road to Skyhawks

The Carl Sandburg College softball team forced extra innings in Game 2, but Sauk Valley pulled out a walk-off win to sweep the Chargers in an Arrowhead Conference doubleheader on Monday afternoon.

The Skyhawks got all the runs they’d need in the first inning on Jenna Johnson’s three-run home run.

Sandburg Standout
Emma Wolfe (Dunlap, Ill./Dunlap) singled in all three of her at-bats and drove in the Chargers’ lone run of the game.

Key Moment
Down to their last out in the seventh, the Chargers evened the game at 4 as Gracie Rademaker (Green Valley, Ill./Midwest Central) picked up an infield single to bring Kelsey Hobson (Bartonville, Ill./Limestone) in with the tying run. Sauk Valley, though, won the game in the bottom of the eighth on Jordan Thormeyer’s two-out RBI single.

Maddi Benson (Spring Bay, Ill./Metamora) went 3 for 4 with a double and an RBI for Sandburg.
